When designers upload templates from InDesign to Acquia DAM, templates are assigned into template groups that are marked as default and will be unreleased. A badge with a number of unreleased templates displays on the Manage templates page as a notification to you that action is needed.

From the page, you can assign assets to the template and see assets that are assigned, move it into the appropriate template groups or add it to additional template groups, release it for users to customize, and expire the template.
