Before setting up multilingual content, you must configure the regional settings for your site:
Regional Settings: Time zone and locale preferences.
Languages: Languages in which site content can be displayed.
Combine language detection methods for optimal user experience.
Order of language detection methods for content: URL (path prefixes or domains), Session, User preferences, Browser settings, and Default language
Content Language and Translation: Apply translation to content types and fields.
Ensure consistent language support across all site elements, including menus, labels, and error messages.
Configuring regional settings¶
Use the following steps to configure regional settings for your site:
- Access your site.
- In the left sidebar, click Configuration > Regional and language > Regional settings.
- Configure the default country, first day of the week, and default time zone.
Click Save configuration.
These regional settings provide the foundation for language-specific date, time, and number formatting.
