Introduction¶

Advanced Analytics with Piwik PRO is an additional analytics solution that provides advanced features and targets our users that typically have over 10 million annual page views or need specific extra features.

This service is separate from our standard Statistics module.

Setup¶

The Advanced Analytics module within the platform lets you sign up for a free Piwik PRO account and link that account (or any other existing Piwik PRO account that you have) to Web Governance.

Instructions¶

1. Contact your account representative to enable Advanced Analytics on your account. Refresh the application window after the recommended activation period, as per your account representative.
2. Click Advanced Analytics by Piwik PRO on the domain toolbar.
3. 

4. Click Sign up with Piwik PRO if you do not already have a Piwik Pro account. 

   
5. Follow the instructions on the sign-up page to create a free Core Account.
6. If you already have a Piwik PRO account, paste your Piwik PRO account URL into the space provided.
7. 
8. Click Connect Account.
   • A pop-up message informs that:
     "Your Piwik PRO account has now been linked to Acquia Optimize. The next time you click the Advanced Analytics module in the main navigation, your Piwik PRO instance opens in a new tab. You can unlink your Piwik PRO account from Acquia Optimize in Admin Settings."

   • Click Return to Dashboard on the popup message to close the message and return to the Piwik PRO dashboard.

     

9. Retrieve a tracking script and install it on your website, or take advantage of their Tag Manager option.

   To link the Piwik Pro account to your Web Governance account.

   • In the Advanced Analytics module, insert your Piwik PRO account subdomain.
     • You can either insert the URL of your main Piwik PRO subdomain or select to insert a direct link to a specific website in your Piwik PRO account.
     • To locate your account subdomain, log into your Piwik PRO account. It is shown in the browser address bar - it looks like this: 
       ​https://accountname.piwik.pro
     • To locate the URL of a specific domain on your Piwik PRO account, expand the domain selector in the top right corner of the page and click the desired domain. The specific URL is shown in the browser address bar. It looks like this: 
       ​https://accountname.piwik.pro/analytics/#/3c02c0a7-9aed-...
   • Click Connect account.
   • Your Piwik PRO domain opens in a new browser tab when you click the Advanced Analytics button.

Unlink Piwik Pro from Web Governance¶

1. Log in to Web Governance.
2. Click Admin Settings on the top menu bar.
3. Click Action on the same row as the domain you wish to unlink Piwik PRO from.
4. Select Edit Domain from the drop-down list.
5. Scroll to the Features section.

6. Click Unlink Piwik PRO account in the Advanced Analytics row.

Why do I need Piwik PRO?

How do I sign up for Piwik PRO?

If the Advanced Analytics with Piwik PRO module has been enabled on your Web Governance account, click the module in the top navigation bar and then click Sign up with Piwik PRO. Follow the instructions on the sign-up page.

How do I start using Piwik PRO?

Log in to your Piwik PRO account to retrieve a tracking script, and install it on your website, or take advantage of their Tag Manager option.

How do I link Piwik PRO to my´ account?

In the Advanced Analytics module, you'll see an option to insert your Piwik PRO account subdomain and click a "Connect account" button. Your Piwik PRO domain opens in a new browser tab when you click the Advanced Analytics module.

How do I unlink Piwik PRO?

If you have previously linked your Piwik PRO account to Web Governance and wish to unlink it, follow these steps:

1. Log in to Web Governance.
2. Click Admin Settings on the top menu bar.
3. Click Action on the same row as the domain you wish to unlink.
4. Select Edit domain from the drop-down list
5. Scroll to the Features section
6. Under Advanced Analytics, click "Unlink Piwik PRO account"

Why don't I have the Advanced Analytics module?

If you do not see the Advanced Analytics module in the top navigation bar inside the application, it means it has not been enabled for your account. Please reach out to your sales representative to learn more about your options.

How much does Piwik PRO cost?

When you sign up through the Web Governance application, you will receive the free-of-charge Core plan. Learn more about Piwik PRO's subscription options on their pricing page.

What is the difference between Web Governance Statistics and Piwik PRO?

Web Governance Statistics is our own analytics module which provides an excellent set of fundamental features that help you retrieve insights on your visitors. Through Piwik PRO, we can offer you even more advanced features and the ability to track millions of page views per year.

Can I use Web Governance Statistics and Piwik PRO simultaneously?

Yes, if you have both Web Governance Statistics and Advanced Analytics enabled on your account, you can use them simultaneously. For performance reasons, however, it may be a good idea to only have one of the services installed at the same time on your website.

I've signed up for Piwik PRO. Can you provide training and technical support?

Web Governance does not offer support for any of the products and services provided by Piwik PRO. Please refer to Piwik PRO's Help Center for more information on how to use the product.

Can I use Piwik PRO for domain groups?

No. Piwik PRO does not offer the same domain segmentation options that Web Governance does and we can therefore not offer Piwik PRO for domain groups. The Advanced Analytics module will not show in the platform if you are working in the scope of a domain group.

Is the Piwik Pro login connected to my Web Governance account?

No, There is no SSO or shared login service provided. You need to log in to both Web Governance and Piwik pro initially.
