My scan is stuck on external links and shows N/A. What does it mean?
Date Published: October 16, 2026
N/A is the common response code for requests that are not resolved.
When a URL is entered in the address bar, the browser sends a request to the server that hosts the asset. An asset can be a page, an image, or a document. The scan makes the same request while processing. If the server takes more than 60 seconds to find the correct resource, the response can experience timeout or may not resolve.
This list covers the potential causes:
- The page, image, or asset is in the server, but the server is down during the request.
- The link points to a third-party website that blocks our IP address.
- The website uses fingerprinting to identify and block the crawler.
The scan process is lengthy and often takes hours to complete. When the crawler attempts to access a link to an asset hosted by a server that is down, the crawler cannot determine if the response is a 404 client error, a 500 internal server error, or a 300 redirect issue. As a result, the response code is displayed as N/A.
