Instructions¶
This document provides instructions on how to navigate through and use the Inventory module.
Inventory dashboard¶
The Inventory dashboard contains the following sections, for a quick overview of the most relevant content:
- Inventory history
- Technical
- Links
- Content.
Click Inventory (books icon), on the page toolbar to open the Inventory module.
Inventory history¶
This section of the Inventory Dashboard is a chart showing the number of assets such as documents, links, email addresses, code snippets, and more on the website.
The chart shows the date and an overview of the total number of pages scanned, images scanned, and documents scanned over time.
Technical¶
This section of the Inventory Dashboard provides an overview of the technical website information. See the Inventory menu section for more information:
Links¶
This section of the Inventory Dashboard provides an overview of links on the website.
Click to view more details about the following:
- Image links: Click to view the Images inventory page.
- Content links: Click to view the Links inventory page. This page contains a list of content containing links. See the number of links in following content:
- Pages
- Spreadsheets
PDF files.
Note
The Content Links count in the Inventory Module shows the number of links to PDF files. Not to be confused with PDF files that are internal and present on the site. For example, the inventory may state a higher number of PDF links when compared to the Accessibility module PDF file count.
- Archive files
- Text documents
- Slides
- Other files.
- Spreadsheet links: Click the number to view the Spreadsheet Links Found pane.
- Word Links: Click the number to view the Text documents found pane.
- Slide Links: Click the number to view the Slide Links found pane.
Content¶
This section of the Inventory Dashboard provides an overview of the number of HTML pages and documents, see the Inventory menu section for detailed information.
Inventory menu¶
On the left side of the page, the Inventory menu contains the following sections.
Summary¶
This menu item redirects to the Inventory dashboard.
Content¶
Click to select Content from the menu on the left. This selection shows the types of content on the page.
The menu expands with the following options.
HTML Pages¶
Click to select this option from the Content sub-menu on the left. This page provides a detailed view of HTML pages within the website. Find HTML assets per page or per site.
Documents¶
Click to select this option from the Content sub-menu on the left. This page gives a detailed view of documents within the website. Find document assets per page or per site.
- Export: Click Export. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
- Filter: Click and select a resource to filter for:
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Sort: Select to sort the list by All, PDF Documents, or Other Documents.
- Title and URL: Click to view the document dashboard:
- Content: This section shows the content on the page:
- Images: The number of images on the page.
- Incoming Links: The number of incoming links.
- Outgoing Links: The number of outgoing links.
- PDF Documents: The number of PDF documents.
- Excel Documents: The number of Excel documents.
- Text Documents: The number of text documents.
Images¶
Click to select this option from the Content sub-menu on the left.
This page gives a detailed view of images on pages within the website. Find image assets per page or per site.
- Export: Click Export. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known image file.
- Title and URL: The title and URL of the page. Click the link to open the page details.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known image name.
- Link: This is the link to the resource that has the asset. Click the link to view the page as a visitor sees it.
- Type: The type of asset.
- Response Code: This column shows the asset code that is returned. For example:
- 200 means the item is retrieved from the cache.
- 304 means that the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if there are any changes, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.
Inline images¶
Click to select this option from the Content sub-menu on the left.
This page provides a detailed view of inline images on pages within the website. Find inline image assets per page or per site.
- Export: Click Export. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known inline image file.
- Title and URL: The title and URL of the page. Click the link to open the page details.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known image name.
- Link: This is the link to the resource that has the asset. Click the link to view the page as a visitor sees it.
- Type: The type of asset.
- Response Code: This column shows the asset code that is returned. For example:
- 200 means the item is retrieved from the cache.

Links¶
Click to select this option from the Content sub-menu on the left.

- Title and URL: The title and URL of the page. Click the link to open the page details.

- Type: The type of asset.
- Response Code: This column shows the asset code that is returned. For example:

Technical¶
Click to select this option from the menu on the left.
The menu expands with the following options.
The landing page shows the technical details present on the page. Navigate to view more about these sections from the landing page or from the sub-menu under Technical on the left:
- CSS: The number of CSS snippets on the page.
- JavaScript: The number of JavaScript snippets on the page.
- Frames: The number of Frames on the page.
- IFrames: The number of IFrames on the page.
Forms¶
Click to select this option from the sub-menu under Technical on the left.
The Forms landing page opens. Sort between Internal and External from the list toolbar.
- Export: Click Export. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for all known Forms.
The list shows the URL for the form and the number of pages that the form is on. Click to navigate to the URL or to the page list to locate the form.
Headlinks¶
Click to select this option from the sub-menu under Technical on the left.
The Headlinks landing page opens. Sort between Internal and External from the list toolbar.
- Export: Click Export. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for all known Headlinks.
The list shows the URL for the pages with headlinks and the number of pages that they are found on. Click to navigate to the URL or to the page list to locate the headlinks.
IFrames¶
Click to select this option from the sub-menu under Technical on the left.
The IFrames landing page opens.
- Sort for Internal or External iFrames assets.
- Export the results locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- URL: The URL of the pages with IFrames assets. Click the link to view the asset as a user sees it.
- Pages: Click Pages (the number of pages) on the same row as a URL to view all pages with this asset. The Pages with this iFrame page opens:
- Click the link under the header to navigate to the issue and view the page as a visitor sees it.
- Export the results locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Title and URL: The title and URL of the page with the asset. Click the link. The page details pane opens:
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Link: The link to the resource that has the asset. Click the link to view it as a visitor sees it.
- Type: The type of asset.
- Response Code: For example:
- 200 means from the cache.
- 304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.
Frames¶
Click to select this option from the sub-menu under Technical on the left.
- Sort for Internal or External Frames assets.
- Export the results locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- URL: The URL of the pages with Frames assets. Click the link to view the asset as a user sees it.
- Pages: Click Pages (the number of pages) on the same row as a URL to view all pages with this asset. The Pages with this iFrame page opens:
- Click the link under the header to navigate to the issue and view it as a visitor sees it.
- Export the results locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Title and URL: The title and URL of the page with the asset. Click the link. The page details pane opens:
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Link: The link to the resource that has the asset. Click the link to view it as a visitor sees it.
- Type: The type of asset.
- Response Code: For example:
- 200 means from the cache.
- 304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)¶
Click to select this option from the sub-menu under Technical on the left.
The CSS landing page opens.
Sort between Internal and External from the list toolbar.
- Export: Click Export. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for all known CSS items.
- URL: The URL of the pages with CSS assets. Click to view the CSS as a visitor sees it.
- Pages: Click Pages (the number of pages) on the same row as a URL to view all pages with this asset. The Pages with this CSS page opens:
- Click the link under the header to navigate to the asset and view the page as a visitor sees it.
- Export the results locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Title and URL: The title and URL of the asset. Click the link. The details pane opens:
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Link: The link to the resource that has the asset. Click the link to view more.
- Type: The type of asset.
- Response Code: This column shows the response code that is returned. For example:
- 200 means from the cache.
- 304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.
JavaScript¶
Click to select this option from the sub-menu under Technical on the left.
The JavaScript landing page opens. Sort between Internal and External from the list toolbar.
- Export: Click Export. The current page downloads locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for all known instances of JavaScript.
- URL: The URL of the pages with JavaScript assets. Click the link to view the element as a user sees it.
- Pages: Click Pages (the number of pages) on the same row as a URL to view all pages with this asset. The Pages with this JS page opens:
- Click the link under the header to navigate to the asset and view it in detail.
- Export the results locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Title and URL: The title and URL of the page with the asset. Click the link. The page details pane opens:
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Link: The link to the resource that has the asset. Click the link for more details.
- Type: The type of asset.
- Response Code: This column shows the response code that is returned. For example:
- 200 means from the cache.
- 304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it is OK to use the same cache entry.
Personal¶
The menu expands with the following options:
Email addresses¶
Click to open the Email Addresses page.
- Export the results locally in CSV format.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known email address.
- Email: The email address.
Create as policy: Click to use the email address as a rule within a policy (for example, to locate an unwanted email address within the website). The policy creation page opens, with most of the configuration pre-selected. Complete the policy and Save.

- Documents: Click to view documents that contain this email address.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known email address.
- URL: The URL of the email address documents. Click the link to view the asset as a user sees it.
- Page: Click to view the pages that contain the email address. The Page pane slides open.
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known email address.
- Title and URL: The title and URL of the page with the asset. Click the link. The page details pane opens:
- Search: Begin typing to search the list for a known Title/URL.
- Link: The link to the resource that has the asset. Click the link to view it as a visitor sees it.
- Type: The type of asset.
- Response Code: For example:
- 200 means from the cache.
- 304 means the cache entry expired and the browser made an HTTP request to ask the server if any changes have been made, and the server has indicated that there is no need to download a new version of the resource and it's OK to use the same cache entry.
- Views: The number of page views.
- Open page details (the page icon).
