Introduction¶
Monitor how visitors interact with your pages. The Acquia Web Governance scan can track up to 1000 heatmaps sessions per page per month. This document provides instructions on how to configure and use Heatmaps to track user activity on selected pages.
Prerequisites¶
This section provides information on the criteria that must be met before the Heatmaps add-on can be set up.
- Contract: The number of pages, sessions, and the percentage of traffic to track all need to be set up by the Support Center. These are based on the details of the contract.
- Web browser extension: View heatmaps with the web browser extension. For instructions on how to install and use the web browser extension, visit Web browser extension.

Setup¶
This section provides instructions for admin users on how to set up and configure the Heatmaps add-on.
- Navigate to the Domain Overview page.
- Click Action on the same row as the domain that contains the page you want to track with a heatmap and select Script Setup Guide from the expanded list of options.
The system opens the Set up your domain page.
Click to toggle Add Heatmaps to ON.
- Copy the script and add it to the website HTML code.

Assign pages to track with a heatmap¶
This section provides instructions for admin users on how to assign pages to track with a heatmap.
- Navigate to the Domain Overview page.
- Click on the domain name to open the dashboard view.
Select Heatmaps (the flame icon) on the main menu bar.
The system opens the Heatmaps page.
Click the + button on an empty row.
The system opens the page search dialog.
Begin to type the name of the page that you want to track with a heatmap.
The system locates and displays matching pages as you type.
Click Assign Heatmap Rule to the desired page.
The search dialog closes and the page appears on the list. Heatmap tracking begins on the page and you can view the results after the next scan.
