Besides adding individual assets to a portal, you can also add single or multiple collections to a portal. Adding collections allows you to create a portal but manage collections directly from Acquia DAM. When released assets are added to collections in the DAM, they’ll automatically be added to the portal. When they’re deleted in the DAM, they’ll be deleted from the portal.
After collections are added, the space for them in the portal dynamically adjusts as assets are added or deleted in the DAM.
Any global and personal collections from the DAM can be in a portal. If the same collection is used in multiple sections of the same portal, any filters applied in the first section will be applied in the other sections.
Add collections by adding an assets section, then choose to display a single collection as a featured collection or single or multiple collections in a card format. You can also add a gallery of assets.
Once you've selected a format, search for the collections you want to add, or filter by global and personal collections. Note that you can only search for collections by name and not by asset metadata, like keywords. Check to add individual collections, or add multiple collections by selecting them individually, holding shift and click to select a range or dragging your mouse over multiple collections to select a range.
Featured collections¶
To display a single collection in the section, choose featured collection. The first four assets from the collection will display in a filmstrip format. With this option, only one collection can be selected.
Collection cards¶
To display multiple collections, choose collection cards. Search for collections, then select the ones to include. Cards for each collection will display. With this option, one or multiple collections can be selected. If you select one collection, it will also display in card format.
Edit collection names¶
By default, the title of the collection in the DAM displays in collection cards. If the name is updated in the DAM, it will change in the portal. With this update, you now have the option to modify the display name on the card from the original title of the collection. When modifying the card name, it won’t change in the DAM. Clear the name to revert back to the name of the collection in the DAM.
Set previews and pin top collections¶
For the collection card layout, you can update the preview for the collection by hovering over the collection and selecting Change image preview. Search for an asset you'd like to use as the preview and crop it to size.
Note that the preview asset doesn't have to be an asset within the collection. You can select icons or other assets not included in the collection to use for the preview. Delete the card if it’s no longer needed.
When adding collections to the portal, you can reorder them by selecting Edit for the asset section and using the Pin Top Collections feature.
Choose collection settings¶
For each section, click the gear icon to choose how collections will display and the actions users can take with the collections. Display asset filenames or metadata, allow users to search the section, select the number of assets that display on each page, and choose a sort order of those assets. You can also allow download and sharing of assets from collections.
Add more collections¶
Click the Add icon to add more collections to the section and to update the pinned sort order of collections.
Remove collections¶
For collection cards, quickly remove single collections by hovering over the collection and deleting the card. You can also click the Manage icon, then uncheck the ones you want to remove.
For sections with a featured collection included, delete the section by clicking the trash can icon.
