The Entries app has an add-on syndication tool that allows you to transform and distribute your product information to digital commerce platforms.
Refine product list¶
First, determine the list of products and attributes in Entries that you want to sync with the syndication tool.
- Go to the Entries app.
- Click Syndication in the Entries menu. On the Syndication page, you’ll see a list of all products in Entries.
- To refine the list, click Filter products and apply filters such as SKU, product name, product type, featured image, or any attribute.
- Click Select attribute columns and choose the attributes you want to be synced with the syndication tool. The SKU and product name are always included as columns. UPC is a required attribute for syndication. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to create it as a new attribute.
Tip
If filtering to the right products is challenging, consider adding a new single-select product attribute called “Ready for syndication.” Add two values – Yes and No – and select Yes for products you want added to the list.
When making your product list, apply the Ready for syndication attribute as a filter and select the value as Yes.
Sync with syndication¶
Once you’re finished refining your product list, select Sync now. This will sync the assets, attributes, and other information for the products in this list to the syndication tool.
When information for products in your syndication product list is updated, you’ll see a message displaying the number of products that have changes that haven’t been synced. Before launching the syndication tool, make sure to sync so that it has the most recent Entries information.
Things to know about syncing:
- This is a one-way sync, only for the products in this list. Any changes you make to these products in the syndication tool will be overwritten by Entries information.
- Filtering and syncing the products in this list only adds or overwrites data in the syndication tool. It doesn't remove products or data.
- If you change the filters and attributes for the product list, but don’t update the details for the products in the list, the sync bar doesn’t display.
- All users will be able to see when a sync is in progress. Syncs can take several minutes, depending on the amount of data and your connection.
Syndicate products¶
When your product list is fully synced and ready, select Launch syndication. You’ll be logged into Acquia Syndicate, powered by the plug-in Syndic8, through single sign-on (SSO).
Make sure your trading partners are already connected and fields from Entries are mapped to your trading partners.
Create and add collections¶
To create a collection of products for a product line or seasonal campaign, for example, go to the Collections page and click Create new collection.
Enter a name and description for the collection. Then select from two types: manual and Smart Collection. Smart Collections are useful because they automatically add products that match filters that you set up.
The filters are based on your product information in Entries. First, select a product type, which is the product category in Entries. Then select a filter property, which is your attributes in Entries, and an operator. Then enter a value.
For example, if you wanted bike accessories for a brand called Bliss to be automatically added to this collection, your filter setup would look like this:
Product type: Accessories
Filter property: Brand type
Operator: Is
Value: Bliss
On the Collections page, select the Smart Collection you just created. Click Actions and Add to Trading Partner and select one or more trading partners.
Add products individually¶
You can add products individually to specific trading partners for syndication. Select the trading partner you want to add products to. On the Products page, select one or multiple products you want to add. Then click Actions and Add to Trading Partner. You can add the products to one or more trading partners.
On the trading partner page, you’ll now see products added. Select products you want to syndicate, then click Actions and Syndicate.
Select a method of syndication:
- Preflight: This will show you what the data will look like before you export it to the trading partner.
- Spreadsheet: This will allow you to download the export to a CSV file and upload to the trading partner platform.
- API: If you have an API connection with a trading partner, you can syndicate through API.
