After gathering feedback from Acquia DAM users, we have redesigned and rebuilt the asset search experience to be more modern, stable, and efficient. Redesigned search is under construction with many features already launched. This is still an opt-in experience. You can continue to use classic search, or toggle between the new and old versions.
And all your existing user permissions have carried over to make adoption as easy as possible.
Overall, you have access to the same search experience with a refreshed UI.
What is included?
Our goal with the redesigned search is to port over all your needed search functionality into a more stable, accessible architecture.
You still have access to familiar core features for your users to search for assets, including things like
Global search
Share and download abilities for individual assets
Refine search filters
Bulk selection and bulk actions
Display of asset group flags and thumbnail text
And all your existing user permissions have carried over to make adoption as easy as possible.
Overall, you have access to the same search experience with a refreshed UI.
Exclusive access to new AI tools
The new search experience, when paired with the Asset Digest tool, gives you exclusive access to new out-of-the-box AI functionality in your Acquia DAM.
Natural language search - AI-assisted search tool that enables users to enter queries in everyday language rather than specific keyword matches or complex Boolean operators.
Filter by color - Automated color detection runs on images during upload. A filter allows users to refine search by color swatches or hex codes.
AI tags - Automated basic keyword tagging runs upon upload for image assets. Users can leverage additional search filtering by AI tags.
AI video transcripts - Automated, searchable transcripts are created for videos upon upload.
Facial recognition - The system automatically detects and groups faces in images, which are then searchable and filterable in redesigned search.
AI document summaries - AI-powered document summarization on Asset Digest generates a concise English-language summary of a document. This helps you understand content without reading the full file.
What else is new relative to classic search?
Beyond the same search functionality that you rely on, redesigned search has new core features. The following highlights give it distinct usability advantages over classic search.
Shareable URLs
You can now copy and paste a link to your search results. The URL will include the search terms, sort, pagination, and filters applied. Copy the link from the browser and then easily send it to other DAM users, or incorporate it into any place you might add the links, like dashboard messages. All logged-in users will be able to click and view these links, even if they do not have redesigned search enabled.
Note
When you share a URL with another user, the page search results will only display assets that user has permission to see.
Sort by relevance
The new default sort for search results is called Relevance. A scoring algorithm determines relevance by comparing search terms to all searchable information for each asset. The algorithm also considers both frequency and uniqueness when matching terms. Users can choose other sort options.
Updated search filters
Sidebar filters are collapsed by default. Expand them to select filter values and scroll the sidebar independently of results. New filter options include uploader name, asset groups, and tags. You can find and enable these in the Admin app under Search Settings > Refine search.
New advanced search
Advanced search is now placed directly within the search results page. You can perform the same deep filtering options as in classic search in the context of a search results page.
Redesigned individual asset download and share
Individual asset download includes the original and preconfigured downloads you had before, along with web-friendly formats, all in an updated modal.
Individual asset share now has a new dedicated share URL option with a new viewer, as well as your existing embed and share URLs and links.
Redesigned bulk actions
Users can select assets in bulk and perform bulk actions on those assets. We have redesigned all bulk actions while maintaining the same capabilities as classic search, with added UI improvements. Users can perform the following actions:
Redesigned search is an opt-in feature. Each DAM user can enable the redesigned search experience for their own DAM account.
Click your avatar in the global menu.
Select User preferences.
Enable redesigned search.
Enter keywords into the global search bar to try it out.
For all users
Users with administrator-level permissions can switch all users to the new redesigned search experience and Asset Digest experience.
Click into the Admin application.
Navigate to Global Settings > Features.
Locate the Global New Search Experience toggle and set it to On.
Note
This action cannot be undone. If turned to Off, all users revert to a default of classic search and Asset Digest.
What is left?
We are finishing development of functionality for redesigned search, including:
Bulk share
Multiple asset search
Export search results to CSV
Order approvals
Search suggestions
Individual asset comments
To stay in the loop with that development, we recommend visiting the Acquia DAM Roadmap.
