After gathering feedback from Acquia DAM users, we have redesigned and rebuilt the asset search experience to be more modern, stable, and efficient for users. Right now, redesigned search is an opt-in experience. You can continue to use classic search, or toggle between the new and old versions.
We released the first version of redesigned search in August 2023, with more enhancements to come.
Classic search | Redesigned search | |
---|---|---|

Redesigned search is an opt-in feature for now. Each DAM user enables the redesigned search experience for themselves only.
Click your avatar in the global menu.
Select User preferences.
Enable redesigned search.
Try it out! Enter keywords into the global search bar.
Both the classic and the redesigned search experiences will be accessible while we redesign and migrate existing features from old to new.
To switch between experiences, you can follow the steps above to disable redesigned search in User preferences.
Or follow these steps:
With redesigned search enabled, go to a search results page.
Select View in classic search, and the results will display in classic search.
The default sort for search results will be relevance. Most relevant is determined by a scoring algorithm that compares search terms to all of the searchable information for each asset. It also considers both frequency and uniqueness when matching terms. We expect to make further adjustments to fine tune the relevance algorithm over time and welcome your feedback as you begin to use it.
The other sort options are slightly different from classic ones.
Date added: The date the asset was initially uploaded, not including versions. You can sort by Newest to oldest or Oldest to newest.
Date updated: The most recent date the asset was updated with new versions, metadata edits, or other changes that display in asset history. You can sort by Newest to oldest or Oldest to newest.
Filename: For filenames, you can sort by A to Z or Z to A. Assets are ordered alphanumerically, meaning if you sort by A to Z, filenames that start with punctuation comes first (based on unicode value order), then assets are listed numerically and finally alphabetically.
The search cards for assets have been redesigned with:
Up to three lines displayed for filenames.
Labels for expired and unreleased assets.
Clickable cards and filenames that go to the Asset Digest or the Asset Details page, depending on your user settings.
Cards that open the asset in a new tab when you right-click and select open in a new tab.
Updated download, share, and view experiences.
Sidebar filters are collapsed by default. Expand them to select filter values and scroll the sidebar independently of results.
New filter options: uploader name, asset groups, and tags. These can be found and enabled in the Admin app under Search Settings > Refine search.
Note that comments, animation, ratings, spinsets, and attached documents filters will not display in redesigned search at this time.
Filters with more than ten values have a search box in the sidebar.
Selected filters display below the page title and can be removed.
Search document text is no longer a sidebar filter selection. If you have this feature turned on in the Admin app, text will automatically be searched each time you perform a search.
You can now copy and paste a link to your search results. The URL will include the search terms, sort, pagination, and filters applied. Copy the link from the browser and then easily send it to other DAM users, or incorporate it into any place you might add the links like dashboard messages. All logged-in users will be able to click and view these links, even if they do not have redesigned search enabled.
Note that when you share a URL with another user, the page search results will only display assets that user has permission to see.
Check the setup of your metadata fields that are used as filters. Go to the Admin app and select Search Settings and Metadata types. From there, select a metadata type and inspect the settings for the individual metadata fields. For the switch to classic search to work, under Quick Search, make sure the selection is Yes.
Currently, you cannot select multiple assets and perform actions in this version of redesigned search. Bulk selection and actions are coming in a future release.
When you select a category that’s the lowest level in the hierarchy for that category, the category filter in the sidebar disappears. To see the category filter again, remove the category filters below the page title.
The More search menu does not display on search results pages in the redesigned search experience at this time. You will see it in other places, like the DAM dashboard and legacy search results pages. All the options in the More search menu go to legacy pages, even when you have redesigned search enabled.
