When you want to see a list of what's happening on your site, including assets that have been recently uploaded, check out the activity feed on the dashboard. In addition to uploading, new, sharing, and commenting activity is also listed. The most recent activity displays first in each feed, and activity from all users on the site displays.
Click the name to see details specific to the activity. To see a larger preview of an asset in the activity feed, click the thumbnail. Click the filename to go to the Asset Details page. For comments activity, click the comment to see it on the Asset Details page.
The activity feed only displays activity for assets you have permission to view. Your name will be listed next to actions you've taken in the activity feed, but other users who've performed the same actions will not be named.
You won't see the activity feed for a feature that isn't enabled on your site.
New activity¶
All recent activity, including batch activity like batch uploads, displays in the New feed. The activity that displays in the New feed is an aggregate of activity from the other feeds.
The New activity feed will report when up to 500 assets have been uploaded.
Uploads¶
Single and batch uploads display in the Uploads feed. For uploads of a single asset, you'll see a preview of the asset, the asset's filename, and a timestamp of when the upload occurred.
For batch uploads, a preview of the first asset selected for upload, that asset's filename, the name of the uploader, the number of assets uploaded, and a timestamp display. Click the filename to see all assets that were uploaded in that batch in search results format.
Click View All to go to the Uploads page.
Shares¶
Shared collections display in the Shares feed. A thumbnail preview of the first asset in the collection, the name of the person who shared the collection, the number of assets in the collection, and timestamp of when the collection was shared are displayed.
Click View All to go to the Shares page.
The Comments feed shows comment tiles for public comments in a parent-child format, with parent comments listed first and replies to comments below the parent.
Along with a comment, a thumbnail preview of the asset a comment was made on, the name of the person who made the comment, a timestamp of the comment, and filename are available in the Comments feed.
Only if you share private comments with others and if you have permission to view the comments will you see private comments.
Click a comment to see the comment on the Asset Details page.
Click View All to go to the Comments page.
Enable and disable the activity feed¶
Want to make your dashboard messages the main focus? If you're a DAM admin, you can hide the activity feed, which will make your dashboard messages span the entire width of the browser. Disable (or enable) the activity feed by selecting the off (or on) button for Activity Feed on the Dashboard on the Features page in the Admin app.
Permissions¶
Any permissions you have will apply to the assets that are listed in the activity feed.
For new, upload, and share activity, you must have the View Active Assets, View Expired Assets, and/or View Unreleased Assets permission enabled for the asset group to see assets in those feeds.
For comments activity, you must have the Comment on Assets and/or Administrate Comments permission enabled to view comments activity.
