Upload profiles provide a flexible and organized way for you to upload assets to Acquia DAM. They're an important tool in the asset upload workflow, as well as when assets need your approval. With upload profiles, assets are automatically placed into specific asset groups when you select a profile at upload. Release and expiration dates and default metadata can also be applied to assets using the upload profile you select. Use upload profiles to archive assets immediately after upload, set version preferences for conflicting assets, and assign assets to asset groups, categories, and global collections.
If assets need your approval, for example, you can divert uploaded assets to a "pending" asset group, leave the release date blank, then select permissions for the upload profile for one user role, like contract photographers. Choose to receive alerts and email notifications as a reminder to begin reviewing uploaded assets, then move approved assets to a designated asset group and release them.

Create as many upload profiles as are needed for the assets on your site. To create upload profiles:
When setting release and expiration dates, choose to release or expire assets on a specific date, in a number of days from the upload date, or release or expire them on upload.
When setting version preferences for conflicting uploads, choose to not auto version conflicting uploads, auto version only the files for conflicting uploads, or auto version files and group information when uploads conflict. If you auto version only the files for conflicting uploads, files will update, but the metadata on the assets in the DAM will not change. If you auto version the file and group information when uploads conflict, files and any mapped metadata will be updated in the DAM.
Assets uploaded to an upload profile must be assigned to at least one asset group. They can also optionally be assigned to as many categories and global collections as you'd like. Simply check next to the asset groups, categories, and collections when creating and editing upload profiles to ensure assets are included in the selected upload profile.
To make updates to existing upload profiles:
If you need to make changes to the roles that can upload or review uploads to an upload profile, you can edit permissions for the profile. To edit:
Default metadata is automatically assigned to all assets uploaded to a selected upload profile. To edit default metadata for upload profiles:
